Session/Lecture 1: Exercise Physiology
This lecture will cover the components of physical fitness, discuss the energy systems of the body and review slow & fast twitch muscle fibers. Muscular contractions, muscle functions, the nervous system and much more will be described and detailed. Areas of flexibility, oxygen consumption and the advantages of improving cardiovascular endurance will be listed. Environmental concerns involving precautions for exercising in the heat, cold and higher altitudes will be unmasked as well.

Session/Lecture 2: Anatomy and Applied Kinesiology
Defining common anatomical terms helps you understand the body and its abilities. We will describe the parts of the cardiovascular system, the respiratory system the skeletal system and the nervous system. Human movements in relationship to the anatomical positions will be discussed to improve function. Michelle will identify and describe the major muscles of the human body. Biomechanical principals of movement will create and understanding for exercise effects and class design. - 140 minutes

Session/Lecture 3: Introduction to Nutrition, Health Screening, Fitness Testing & Aerobic Programming.
The human body and the energy system is defined in kilocalories, metabolism, energy expenditures, carbohydrates, protein, fat, water and more. Describing the food pyramid and identifying the 6 main nutrients in food will help develop some sound strategies for a healthy diet. Understanding the correlation between diet and disease, including cardiovascular disease, obesity, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, osteoporosis and anemia. Eating disorders will be touched on to be able to identify them and the effects on the body. The health screening process will be explored here as well, so you can classify potential participants. The process will help identify individuals that need a medical/physical exam before exercising. Program design in this lecture will show the pre-class preparation, warm up, cardiorespiratory, muscular strength/endurance and the principles involved for the flexibility segment of each class. Stages of learning will be looked into so established class goals, selection of appropriate exercises can combine with teaching styles and strategies. Feedback will be key to the final development for the participant. - 146 minutes

Session/Lecture 4: Adherence & Motivation, Special Populations, Exercise & Populations
Major factors of exercise adherence are identified to see how they match up with the traits of an ideal instructor. Strategies to encourage adherence and the relationship between exercise and body image are listed and discussed. Guidelines for people that suffer or have physical limitations from obesity, diabetes, asthma, bronchitis, arthritis, osteoporosis, emphysema, physical disabilities, coronary disease and others will be covered. The benefits of exercise on pregnancy and the contraindications will be reviewed. The ACOG has guidelines are listed so various program modifications and suggestions for pre and post-natal exercise can be safely accomplished.

Session/Lecture 5: Musculoskeletal Injuries, Legal & Professional Responsibilities
Identifying symptoms and categories of musculoskeletal injuries is essential to help participants know when to get help. Factors that are associated with injury are clearly listed so you can identify sprains, strains, and tendonitis. Emergency steps are realized to make as standards for any class. Liability and negligence are defined, so proper responsibility can be achieved at any level. Listing the steps for reporting an accident and for the implementation of a risk management system will be defined for practical use. Common approaches for the defense against potential risks and defenses against negligence claims will be determined. Employment contracts, employment status, copyright laws, liability insurance and scope of practice will be covered as well. This lecture will open your eyes to the business portion of the industry. - 151 minutes
