In addition, I have been the Assistant Director for Sports & Fitness at the University of Houston-Downtown campus for 7 years during which time I have been responsible for the coordination of the various fitness programs offered on campus as well as an extensive personal training program. I am also the fitness specialist for a research project involving underprivileged Hispanic girls and their mothers for an after school program funded by the University of Houston. This program called BOUNCE (behavior opportunities uniting nutrition, counseling and exercise) was awarded the best nutrition and physical activity practices by the Texas Public Healthy Association 2006.

 

 

Eddie Thomas grew up in the Southeast Texas area and graduated high school in 1994 from Livingston. He attended Sam Houston State University as an undergrad and finished up his Bachelor‚s degree in the Spring of ‚99. He decided to stay in school and pursue a Master‚s degree in which he completed in the Spring 2001. He is the Program Manager at the HP Fitness Center in Houston. He also is an instructor at Cy-Fair and Tomball Community College teaching a variety of classes within the Kinesiology Department. He is a certified Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor from National Institute of Preventive Medicine. His favorite fitness professional to study and learn from is Douglas Brooks, the author of many books and articles. Eddie maintains a very real "open-door" policy.
