* This is a great study tool for anyone trying to learn the essentials of being a personal trainer. Lectures use the ACSM Health Fitness Health Instructor textbook and come complete with an outline for students requesting one that are not in our course already.

Session/Lecture 1: Activity, Fitness & Health
An essential overview of the components recognized in physical activity that relate to improving health. Medical clearances, recommendations, reactions and effects of exercise are reviewed to understand the relations to your body. Exercise Physiology will be touched on before lecture an in-depth review in lecture 2. - 102 minutes

Session/Lecture 2: Exercise Physiology
Understand how the muscle produces energy aerobically and anaerobically. Evaluate the importance of each type of energy production in fitness and sport activities. Learn the power, speed, endurance, and metabolism of different types of muscle fibers. This lecture will cover metabolic, cardiovascular and respiratory responses to exercise. Body temperature and the differences in how male and females react to exercise will be reviewed as well. - 96 minutes

Session/Lecture 3: Functional Anatomy & Biomechanics
A trip through the physical parameters of the human body to include, but not limited to the cardiovascular system, respiratory system, skeletal system, nervous system, muscular system and joint classifications. Some essential nutrition information is described for the role it plays with the body. ˆ 126 minutes

Session/Lecture 4: Exercise Prescription for Health and Fitness
Concepts of overload principals and specificity as they relate to training programs. Guidelines related to cardio respiratory fitness programs, including those related to warm ups and cool downs will be explored. Factors that contribute to obesity and the effects of temperature, humidity, altitude and pollution will be reviewed. Exercise intensity, durations, frequency, number of sets, repetitions and rest periods to achieve goals will be covered. A lecture describing low back issues, ROM, core strength, and risk factors to understand the concepts in designing exercise programs. - 149 minutes

Session/Lecture 5: Behavior Modification and Program Administration-Management
This session will evaluate and describe the motivational factors that distinguish high to low participation in clients. Characteristics of a good leader, clothing, adherence, goal setting, effective games, fostering behavior change and other identifying issues will be focused on for implementation. Legal issues involving record keeping and evaluations for exercise programs will be determined for fitness programs.
