Synergy of Human Movement is advanced training for the experienced, certified personal trainers who wish to work with all post rehabilitative populations, baby boomers, high-risk population, sport specific clientele. Before you can train any client,  you need to understand  the science behind the movement, otherwise why are you training? Gain a deeper understanding on how human movement occurs scientifically and how the various systems of the body affect one another, understand the functional anatomy that performs human movement, and learn about common neuromuscular injuries and post therapy training programs that get results.

This course is designed to challenge and make you think deeper, analyze motion and movement and truly understand how the human body functions! Stay current with the latest research and techniques to train all clients’ enabling them to return to optimal health and function.

This comprehensive course includes a 550 page manual, 5 DVD set featuring Chris Gellert, PT, MPT, CSCS, CPT. The online exam, which requires a passing score of 75% to earn CEU credit, is also included.

Additionally, PTCS is there for you to answer any questions you may have as well as provide quizzes and additional information to help you understand and guide you in truly understanding the science behind the movement!

 Synergy of Human Movement Course Objectives:

  1. Learn and understand the functional anatomy, biomechanics and integration of systems that are involved in the process of human movement.
  2. Understand the foundation of tissue healing as it relates to clients’ in their stage of recovery post injury as they transition back to exercising.
  3. Understand common orthopedic, neuromuscular conditions and special populations and be able to design and modify programs for clients.
  4. Learn about common medications and their effect on body not only at rest but with exercise.
  5. Be able to conduct a comprehensive fitness assessment including identifying key “red flags,” understanding the importance of screening, understanding diagnostic tests and when to refer a client to other allied health professionals.
  6. Understand the different types of aerobic and muscular endurance training and how physiologically they can improve an athlete’s cardiovascular efficiency.
  7. Learn the science behind therapeutic exercise and exercise prescription for common orthopedic, neuromuscular or pathological dysfunctions with rationale helping those clients achieve optimal outcomes.
  8. Learn how to design Sport Specific training Periodized programs utilizing the foundation of Periodization training/Tudor Bompa principles not only for athletes but for all populations.
  9. Understand the foundation of neuromuscular training/motor control/motor learning as it relates to balance, coordination, reaction and learning a new task.
  10. Gain a deeper insight and understanding on truly what the “core” is comprised of, its’ importance, how to assess a client’s core strength. Become skilled at teaching both static and dynamic core, scapular stabilization and balance exercises that work!
  11. Understand the difference between functional strengthening and human movement training.
  12. Understand the foundation of Marketing, Public Relations and Publicity and be able to apply this knowledge to attract and retain clients. Understand how to build allied health relationships, and how to communicate with other medical professionals.

Introduction-Introduction of the course with an overview of the material covered.

Human Movement and How dysfunctions develop-Understand the biomechanics, functional anatomy, and how all systems of the body synergistically produce movement, common dysfunctions of the body will be reviewed in extensive detail. You will learn the science behind common orthopedic, neuromuscular and special population conditions.

Fitness Assessment-Go beyond the essential components of an assessment, you will learn more with respect to diagnostic tests, flexibility, posture, respective training for dysfunctions, cardiovascular training that will change the way you assess clients’.

Principles of therapeutic exercise/program design-Learn the how and why behind exercise prescription, the importance of periodization training and how they both affect one another.

Integrative training-Understand integrative training principles such as neuromuscular training, stretching, and core strengthening and their affect on one another. Understand sample workout programs with clinical rationale for common movement dysfunctions.

Scope of practice and professionalism-Here you will learn about scope of practice, and
understand why professionalism is so important.

Foundation of Business Marketing- You will learn the essentials of Marketing, the different forms of publicity,  the actionable steps to market personal training services, and how to build allied health relationships all that can help grow your training business.

Pre-requisites for home study course: Possess a national personal training certification from W.I.T.S. , ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NSCA, NASM, NCSF, NFPT with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience or possess a Bachelor's degree in health related field such as exercise science, exercise physiology, movement science, physics, kinesiology, biology, or a related degree(contact PTCS for clarification) and an advanced certification (ie. NSCA-CSCS, ACSM-CHFI, NASM-CES, PES others can be discussed with PTCS). CPR Certification is mandatory.
