This 36-hour course provides students with the most current,
foundational knowledge, training, and competency testing
to certify them to practice as a professional aqua exercise
instructor. Lecture and hands-on practice teach: exercise
anatomy and physiology, fitness, health screening, weight
management, special populations, aqua vs. land based exercise,
pool safety, programming, music, cueing, creativity and choreography,
aqua cardio, movement analysis and nutrition. Required

Learning Outcomes:
After successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Explain
fundamental principles
of anatomy and physiology.
- Design an aqua fitness
program.
- Demonstrate proper execution
of water exercises for individuals and groups.
- Explain and demonstrate
warm up, stretching and cool down.
- Explain the differences
between land and aqua exercise.
Pre-Requisite:
This is a beginner to intermediate course for students with little or no experience
or education.
Methods of Instruction:
Lecture, practical demonstrations, practical skills assessments, written and
final examination.
Completion Requirements:
Students must earn a score of 70% or higher on the written and practical exams. Attendance
is required and students are only allowed one excused absence. Students with
an excused absence must schedule a make-up session and complete any work assigned.
Adult CPR is required.

Credits:
36 contact hours. Approved for 36 WITS CECs and 3.6 IACET and BOC CEUs.
Recommended for 2 undergraduate level academic credits by the American Council
on Education.
